UN:Piracy Has "Incalculable" Toll On Somali Society 

Under-Secretary-General Patricia O’Brien says the cost of Somali piracy has risen to astronomical levels. 44% of the near three hundred hijackings in the first 9 months of 2010 were caused by Somalis, many of whom believe that they are exacting justice on foreign vessels for dumping toxic waste and fishing illegally. Is a pirate attack on a U.S. ship an attack against America?

Congressman Gene Taylor (D-Missi) asks Ambassador Stephen Mull, Acting under Secretary for International Security and Arms Control for the U.S. State Department whether a ship, targeted by pirates, baring the American flag, would be treated as committing an attack against America. Mull’s response was inconclusive, and Congressman Taylor and Chairman Skelton have asked the Ambassador to submit a written statement outlining in detail, to the committee how this crime is dealt with under international and domestic law.

Shoddy wires are prone to cath fire

Brian Monks, Vice President of Anti-Counterfeiting Operations for Underwriters Laboratories, says that counterfeiters do not care about the safety of American citizens. He says that because of cheap manufacturing a lack of safety standards, counterfeited items are very dangerous if used.
