2012 Candidates Cash In On Cyber Monday

2012 hopefuls are attempting to cash in on “Cyber Monday,” the first Monday after Thanksgiving wherein online retailers offer special deals to holiday shoppers.

Mitt Romney’s campaign has promised 30 percent off in their online store for loved ones “looking for gift ideas for the Mitt supporter in your life.”

Meanwhile, President Obama’s re-election campaign is offering $5 off of hooded sweatshirts, urging supporters to “stay warm and support the 2012 campaign.”

Poll: Gingrich New Frontrunner In GOP Presidential Race

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has risen to the top of the GOP presidential field just weeks before the first primary.

According to a new CNN/ORC International Poll, Gingrich leads former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney by a 4 percentage point margin, 24-to-20.

Gingrich’s status as a top tier candidate can, perhaps, be credited to the onslaught of sexual harassment allegations former front runner and pizza mogul Herman Cain was faced with in recent weeks. Or, it could very well be a handout by Texas Governor Rick Perry following a nationally televised gaffe when he failed to remember the third government agency he planned to nix if elected president.

Regardless, Gingrich has accomplished a one month turnaround that has made him the sixth candidate to top nationwide polls. No more than a month ago, Gingrich found himself trailing Cain, Romney and Perry.

The poll was conducted from November 18-20, with 1,019 adults, 402 of whom were Republican leaning voters.

Gingrich Within Striking Distance Of Romney In New Hampshire

Newt Gingrich’s remarkable campaign turn-around continued today as a new poll showed him trailing GOP frontrunner Mitt Romney by just two percentage points among New Hampshire voters.

Romney narrowly finished ahead of Gingrich, 29-27, in the poll conducted by Magellan Strategies. In a similar poll performed by the group last month, Gingrich received just six percent of the vote.

However, as the Huffington Post’s Jon Ward explains, there are some caveats to the results.

Poll: Gingrich Holds 13 Point Lead In Iowa

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich leads the GOP field in Iowa according to a new poll, holding a double digit lead over former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney.

In a new Rasmussen Reports poll, Gingrich holds 32 percent among likely caucus goers. Mitt Romney comes in with 19 percent and businessman Herman Cain holds 13 percent. Ron Paul received 10 percent support but no other candidate broke double digits.

The poll also found that although 77 percent of respondents said they would vote for any GOP candidate who received the nomination, 32 percent said that they would consider a third-party candidate if Mitt Romney, the party’s projected frontrunner, won the Republican nod.

The poll was conducted among 700 likely caucus goers on November 15th.

Ron Paul Calls For Return To Gold Standard

By Mike Hothi

Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) has a solution to Chinese currency manipulation — return to the gold standard.

“The ideal world would be for all governments to endorse the [gold standard] and provide it internationally,” said Paul, who is running for GOP presidential nomination.

Paul said the gold standard would solve complaints by U.S. officials that China’s weak currency gives it an unfair trade advantage. “You wouldn’t have competing devaluations in currency that lead to trade wars.”

Speaking at the Cato Institute, Paul also claimed that China is not the only country guilty of currency manipulation.

“What about us?” Paul asked. “Don’t you think we manipulate our currency?”

Paul finished first in a new South Carolina straw poll out today, taking home 38 percent of the vote. He also won a San Diego straw poll on Monday, finishing at 30 percent.
