Carney Criticizes Romney's Foreclosure Stance

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney called out Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney on his stance against government intervention in the home foreclosure process.

“There is no simple fundamental restructuring that will wipe away the damage done by the bursting of the housing bubble,” Carney told reporters aboard Air Force One Monday. “What we firmly do not believe is that the answer is not to simply let the housing market bottom out and let investors come in and fix the problem.

Added Carney, “That’s not a solution. That’s a solution that basically says to middle-class Americans who have been responsibly paying their mortgage and who, through no fault of their own, have seen their economic situation get quite desperate because of the prices in the housing market that you’re on your own — tough luck.”

As Carney concluded his remarks, a reporter questioned whether his comment was a specific response to Romney’s proposal in Nevada last week that the home foreclosure process should be allowed to “run its course and hit the bottom.”

“I have heard that Governor Romney said something like that, yes,” Carney responded.

Romney Lands Blunt Endorsement

Former Massachusetts Governor and GOP presidential contender Mitt Romney will announce Tuesday that Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) will lead his campaign’s efforts to build and secure support from Congressional Republicans.

“It’s an honor to have Roy’s support,” Romney said, according to Politico. “He has always been a champion of taxpayers and small business owners. and I know that he will be an effective liaison in sharing my vision for America with his colleagues in both the House and the Senate.”

Blunt is no stranger to rallying members to support a candidate. During former George W. Bush’s presidential run in 2000, then-Rep. Blunt helped Bush in a similar fashion, ultimately securing the GOP nomination and leading a successful run to the White House. Blunt also served as House majority whip from 2003 to 2007.

“Through his experience in the private sector and as governor, I believe Mitt has the right background to help create more economic certainty and spur job growth in Missouri and nationwide,” Blunt said.

Romney PAC Raises $1.7 Million

Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney has rasied $1.7 million dollars between June and September through political operations that include a political action committee at a federal and state level, reports Politico Thursday. Romney is expected to run for the presidency in 2012, following his loss to John McCain for the Republican nomination in 2008.

The committees all share the same title of Free and Strong America and have been created in Iowa, Alabama, Michigan, South Carolina and New Hampshire.  Each of these states is seen as a strategic move because of their importance in the presidential race.

New Poll Shows Romney, Palin Lead GOP For 2012 Presidential Bid

By AJ Swartwood

According to a new Gallup Poll released Thursday, Mitt Romney and Sarah Palin are the leading candidates for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012.

The poll found discovered that there is support for thirteen candidates, but it was Romney, former Governor of Massachusetts, and Palin, former Governor of Alaska, who led the way with 19% and 16%, respectively.

Mike Huckabee came in third with 12% and Newt Gingrich lagged behind with 9%.

Despite the clear frontrunners, the number of potential candidates with support underscores the wide-open nature of the GOP bid.

The survey was conducted last week with 902 Republican respondents with a margin of error of plus or minus 4&.
