Obama, Romney Run Neck And Neck In Swing States

President Barack Obama and GOP frontrunner Mitt Romney run neck and neck in key swing states, according to a new Gallup/USA Today poll.

Among registered voters in states that could decide the outcome of 2012, Romney came in with 47 percent support and Obama came in with 46 percent.

Against Herman Cain, the margin is slightly wider, with the President in the lead 48 to 45 percent. Texas Governor Rick Perry trails by the widest margin in swing states, 49 to 44 percent.

The poll also found that enthusiasm in swing states was higher among Republicans than Democrats. 48 percent of Democrats said they were extremely or very enthusiastic about their candidate as opposed to 59 percent of Republicans.

The poll, released Friday, was conducted among 1,334 adults between October 20th and 27th. The swing states included Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Wisconsin.

Cain: Accuser Wanted Huge Settlement

Presidential hopeful Herman Cain told Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren Monday that one woman who accused him of sexual harassment in the 90s was seeking a “huge financial settlement.”

“The good news is because there was no basis for this, we ended up settling for what would have been a termination settlement,” Cain said.

Cain’s recollection of the event appeared out of sync with a statement he had made earlier in the day, wherein he told the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. that he was not aware of any settlement.

Allegations surrounding the former businessman were brought to light in a story in Politico, which reported that during Cain’s tenure as the restaurant industry’s top lobbyist, he faced sexual harassment charges from two female employees.

During his Fox appearance, Cain detailed one incident that led to the charge, explaining that he made a gesture to indicate the woman’s height in comparison to his wife.

Physician: Obama Fit For Duty, Tobacco Free

Barack Obama is now tobacco free, according to the President’s physician.

Following the President’s latest physical examination, Dr. Jeffrey Kuhlman, MD, MPH reported that the President has kicked his cigarette habit and is “fit for duty.”

The details of the exam, released with the President’s permission, also shows that the President has kept both his cholesterol and weight at a healthy level, stays physically active and occasionally drinks alcohol in moderation.

“The President is current on all age-appropriate screening tests,” Kuhlman notes, concluding that Obama is “fit at fifty.”

Obama's Approval Rating Inches Up

President Barack Obama’s approval rating has seen a slight increase, according to a new Gallup poll.

The survey shows that the President now stands with 43 percent approval, a 5 percent increase from the 38 percent he charted just earlier this month.

The polling agency says that the increase could be attributed to the death of Libyan leader Moammar Gaddafi, the new plan to remove U.S. troops from Iraq by year’s end and improvements in the stock market.

The poll was conducted October 24th through the 26th among 1,565 adults.

Joe The Plumber Announces House Run

Sam Wurzelbacher, more popularly known as “Joe the Plumber” has announced plans to run for the Congressional seat currently held by long-serving Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur.

In a video released online, Wurzelbacher told reporters in an Ohio restaurant that he will run as a Republican but added “by god, that does not encompass who I am since I’m going to represent all Americans.”

Wurzelbacher became a fixture of Sen. John McCain’s (R-Ariz.) 2008 presidential campaign as a symbol for average voters. There was speculation that Wurzelbacher could make a run for office in 2010, but he ultimately declined.

Earlier this month, Wurzelbacher filed paperwork for a House run with the FEC.
