Pelosi To Watch Election Results In Washington

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) will be on Capitol Hill tonight when polling results began to trickle out.

Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) will also be on hand for the DCCC’s watch party Tuesday evening. With Republicans expected to gain a significant number of seats in the lower chamber, it could be a long night for Pelosi, Van Hollen and company.

At least Pelosi has baseball to cheer her up. Her San Francisco Giants clinched a title last night, defeating the Texas Rangers in Game 5 of the World Series by a score of 3-1.

White House Responds To Baghdad Massacre

Press Secretary Robert Gibbs called an attack on a Baghdad church that killed 58 people over the weekend “senseless.”

Gibbs’ office put out a statement today condemning the brutal attack, the worst massacre of Iraqi Christians since the Iraq War began in 2003.

“The United States strongly condemns this senseless act of hostage taking and violence by terrorists linked to al Qaeda in Iraq that occurred Sunday in Baghdad killing so many innocent Iraqis,” Gibbs said. “Our hearts go out to the people of Iraq who have suffered so much from these attacks.”

Carville: Tea Party Candidates Are "Nut Cases"

Renowned Democratic strategist James Carville warned supporters today that Republicans will govern in an “extreme” fashion should they regain the majority in Congress.

Carville pleaded with donors to give to House Democrats who are in danger of getting blown-out on Election Day.

“After this election is over, what will you tell your kids and your grandkids that you did to keep Sarah Palin’s favorite extremists out of Congress?”

The one-time top adviser to former President Bill Clinton said that while persistent, the bulk of conservative Republicans gunning for office this year are “nut cases.”

Strickland "One Of The Best," Says Former President

If you ask former President Bill Clinton, Ohio Governor Ted Strickland (D) is at the top of the class as far as state leaders go.

“He’s clearly one of America’s best governors,” Clinton said in a new fundraising memo out today. “I can honestly say that, both as a human being and as an effective leader, Ted’s right up there with the best of them.”

Clinton will be in Canton this weekend to campaign for Strickland, who is in a tight race against Republican opponent John Kasich. The trip will be Clinton’s third since this summer on Strickland’s behalf.

On Sunday, Vice President Joe Biden will campaign for Strickland in Toledo.
