Ron Paul To Retire From Congress
Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) announced via Twitter today that he will not seek reelection to the House in 2012.
Paul, a twelve-term Congressman who has run for President twice and is running again for the 2012 GOP nomination, said today that he has decided to abandon his House seat so that he may focus all of his efforts on capturing the nomination.
“I feel it was better that I concentrate on one election,” Paul said. “It’s about that time when I should change tactics.”
Paul is considered a long-shot to win the nomination, but has polled well in key states, including Iowa. Though he is running as a Republican, his libertarian views on the issues have made him an attractive option to a contingency of voters fed up with more traditional Republican candidates.
