Report: Petraeus Being Considered As Next CIA Director

General David Petraeus, commander of U.S. forces in Afghanistan, is in the running to become the next CIA Director, according to an NPR report.

Sources told NPR that Petraeus would take the job as spy chief if he was offered it. Petraeus is expected to leave his post in Afghanistan this fall.

Defense Secretary Robert Gates is also expected to leave the president’s cabinet this year. Current CIA chief Leon Panetta is considered a top candidate for his replacement.
