Obama Visits Ground Zero

President Barack Obama traveled to the site of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York Sunday to honor those who lost their lives one decade ago.

Appearing before a commemoration ceremony at the National September 11th Memorial, the President read a passage from the Bible.

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble,” Obama said, reading from Psalm 46. “Therefore, we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea.”

Former President George W. Bush and former First Lady Laura Bush attended the ceremony as well, and walked along the base of the 9/11 Memorial with the current occupants of the White House.

The President is also scheduled to attend a wreath laying ceremonies at Shanksville, Pennsylvania, where United Flight 93 was brought down, and at the Pentagon. He will deliver formal remarks Sunday evening during a memorial concert at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
