Wisconsin Senator: Demonstrators Crossed the Line By Protesting Outside Governor’s Home
Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.) blasted labor protesters in his state for holding a demonstration outside of the home of Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker (R).
In a statement Thursday, Johnson said he was “deeply troubled” by the news, and added that it was “out of line and out of bounds.”
The Wisconsin Republican added that he will do anything he can to support the state’s Senate and assembly.
Wisconsin’s labor community has been in an uproar over a bill proposed by Walker that would end most collective-bargaining rights for state employees and require them to pay more into their pension and benefits programs. Earlier this week, hundreds of demonstrators rallied outside of the Governor’s home in Wauwatosa.
Johnson beat progressive Senator Russ Feingold (D) in 2010’s midterm elections.
