House Passes Health Care Bill 219 To 212

The House of Representatives voted 219 to 212 to pass historic health care reform legislation late Sunday night, with House Democrats heralding the victory with cries of “Yes We Can.”

The legislation, which is the version initially passed in the Senate in December, lacks several key factors sought by House Democrats. A vote on a set of amendments, or a reconciliation bill, is scheduled for later Sunday night.

After the bill is signed into law by president Barack Obama, the Senate will vote to approve the reconciliation bill. Although the Senate has yet to take on numerous pieces of legislations taken on by the House, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) assured House Democrats Saturday that the Senate will act promptly to pass the bill.

When the House originally voted on health care reform legislation in November, it passed by 220 to 215, surpassing the 218 needed. A number of those in the House have since resigned bringing the minimum needed to 216.

I am thrilled that health care reform in some form has passed. People have too long been subservient to the mega insurnace industry, high cost physcians serving the wealthy and phramacutical companies. We could not continue to hold ourselves out as a great and progressive nation while continuing to deny basic health care to our people regardless of their socio economic status. Everyone knows someone, friend or family who has worked part time, done their job year after year, and still the company would not provided them with any health care. Companies have often saved health care for the full time workers and part timers were out of luck, this has not been fair.

why is it that we, as the people, elected people who pretended that they were for the people, when in fact they only wanted to get their names in the history books without regard to OUR WELFARE?????? thank you to eveyone who voted for the Democratic party line in 2008....smart move. I hope you all have millons of dollars that will transfer to your children upon your death to help pay for this bill. Otherwise, well figure it out....

This is a travesty and the worst thing that has happened in our country in years. This legislation will push our nation over the edge of the deep abyss. The lawmakers in DC no longer listen to the voice of the American people. Let's make them hear us loudly in November and then impeach this imposter Obama.

We are tired of you not listening to we the people. It is obvious that you do not feel that you owe an allegence to us or our flag.
I predict that this spells the dome of the democatic party. The back lash this November will be monumental. BUT, if those elected to replace these coward anti-American socialists do nothing like the last time they were given a chance, then God help us and goodbye to our country.
This has put us 90% in the toilet.
Good job, liberals.

If NAFTA was a sucking sound, this issue is the flushing sound of American jobs, values and politics!!! "Life, Liberty and the PURSUIT of Happiness" just got tossed. Pursuing, working for something, will get you penalized and once enough people stop pursuing, happiness will fail for us all!!!

I am ashamed of this country that has allowed a dumb president and his cut-throat cronies(included are the spineless congressmen)to railroad a bill that will be the beginning of our America's downfall. How in the hell have so many people become so blind. If this is what we have come to then I will be looking for anyone who will be willing to secede. This is no longer a right and just place to live when our elected officials do things their way and I KNOW DAMN WELL that the people voiced this opinion and it fell on deaf ears. WELL, they who voted for "thing" bill via of bullying by obama better close their ears and eyes come next November. I will do everything I can to see to it that the democrats are thrown out and a new President will sit in the White House.

I see America becoming a second Nazi Germany with "Our Dear" president Obama replacing Hitler. Can the Democrats that voted for this health care bill, not see this. Why are things like this voted for by the government officials instead of the people voting for what they want. There should be a bill that says "What the government votes for 'the people' is also what the government official get and what they vote for themselves "the people" also get." What a great country this would be. If we were really equal.
