Napolitano Talks To First Responders In NYC

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano spoke in New York City today commemorating September 11.

“We can’t guarantee there won’t be another successful terrorist attack,” Napolitano will tell first responders and emergency workers. “The threats we face are evolving, and enemies like Al Qaeda and its affiliates are determined. … Today, on the eve of the ninth anniversary of the worst terrorist attack in our nation’s history, I can pledge to you this: We will do everything in our power to prevent attacks and to prepare ourselves.”

Pence: President's Aim Off-Target

U.S. Congressman Mike Pence (R-Ind.), Chairman of the House Republican Conference, issued the following statement today after President Obama’s White House news conference: 

“As the American people continue to ask, ‘Where are the jobs?’ President Obama squandered an opportunity to embrace bipartisan solutions that will stimulate the economy and create jobs. Instead, he called for more of the same failed economic policies: higher taxes on job creators and “stimulus” spending that borrows on the backs of future generations.

“With unemployment still near 10 percent and federal spending producing record deficits, the American people want a fresh approach and not more of the same borrowing, spending, bailouts and higher taxes. Washington needs fiscal discipline for itself, and immediate tax relief for families, small businesses and family farms.”

California Judge Declares DADT Unconstitutional 

A federal judge declared the ban on openly gay service members unconstitutional and said she will issue an order to halt the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy.

U.S. District Judge Virginia Phillips ruled Thursday that the prohibition on openly gay military service members was unconstitutional because it violates the First and Fifth Amendment rights of gays and lesbians.

Church Behind Koran Burnings Has Website Shut Down

AFP is reporting that the company that hosts the website of the Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Florida has pulled it from the web in response to the church’s plan to burn copies of the Koran this Saturday. The firm’s president, Dan Goodgame, said the church “violated the Offensive Content section of its Acceptable Use policy.”
