Obama To Put Freeze On Gulf Drilling

After the fallout from the BP oil spill, President Obama has vowed to put a hold on any drilling the eastern side of the Gulf of Mexico for the next seven years, according to a report out by CNN.

Ken Salazar, Secretary of the Interior, is set to hold a press conference at 1:30 to shed more light on the subject.

BP VP: Static Kill Has Better Chance of Success Than Top Kill

BP Senior Vice President, Kent Wells, said that he expects the planned ‘static kill’ to begin on Tuesday, and that the operation will fare better than the previous attempt to stop the oil, ‘top kill,’ because the cap prevents mud from escaping out the top of the well.  The ‘static kill’ oeration will take several days to complete, said Wells.

Tourism In Gulf Coast Suffering. Is Media To Blame?

Kenneth Feinberg, administrator of the Gulf Coast Claims Facility, told a House Energy and Commerce subcommittee today that he likely will not pay out funds to support ads that promote tourism to the Gulf.

Keith Overton, senior vice president and COO of Tradewinds Resort and chairman of the Florida Restraunt and Lodging Association, blamed the media today for hurting tourism in the Gulf Coast region.
