Bachmann Runs Roughshod In New Iowa Caucus Survey

Rep. Michelle Bachmann (R-Minn.) has a 13 point lead over the GOP field, according to a new Iowa 2012 Republican Presidential Caucus Survey conducted by Magellan Data and Mapping strategies.

29% of likely voters who were surveyed said they’d go for Bachmann, a favorite among Tea Partiers.

According to the survey, Bachmann outstrips all the other republican contenders in every voter subgroup, however her greatest support comes from Tea Party members, social conservatives, and male voters.

The survey also indicated that former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney is in a distant second with only 16% of the vote. Former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty and conservative businessman Herman Cain tied with 8% of the vote.

The Ames, Iowa Straw Poll is scheduled for Saturday August 13, 2011.
