Durbin To Use Religion As Platform For DREAM Act
Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) continued his push toward making the DREAM Act a reality for a growing number of students across the country.
“[The DREAM Act] has become a passion and a commitment to me,” Durbin said.
Durbin announced Tuesday that he along with an assortment of religious leaders have designated three days in September to be named the DREAM Act Sabbath.
Religious leaders from Christian, Muslim and Jewish denominations joined the Illinois Democrat and vowed to educate their respective followers about the implications of the DREAM Act.
“On DREAM Act Sabbath churches, synagogues, temples and mosques across the country will dedicate time during their regular weekly worship service for a conversation about the DREAM Act,” Durbin said. “Our goal is to… educate Americans about the DREAM Act and, of course, our ultimate goal is to build grassroots support to pass it.”
