Report: Weiner Wants To Weigh In On Who Replaces Him

Former Congressman Anthony Weiner is attempting to have a say over who succeeds him in representing New York’s 9^th Congressional district, the New York Post reported Tuesday.

According to the Post, Weiner has reached out to possible Democratic candidates and has consulted Rep. Joe Crowley (D-N.Y.), who heads the Democratic Party in Queens.

Weiner, a seven-term Congressman, resigned earlier this month after becoming embroiled in an online sex scandal. He publicly acknowledged that he had inadvertently Tweeted a photograph of his crotch and maintained six online relationships before and during his marriage.

A special election will be held later this year.
