Former Congressman Anthony Weiner is attempting to have a say over who succeeds him in representing New York’s 9th Congressional district, the New York Post reported Tuesday.
According to the Post, Weiner has reached out to possible Democratic candidates and has consulted Rep. Joe Crowley (D-N.Y.), who heads the Democratic Party in Queens.
Weiner, a seven-term Congressman, resigned earlier this month after becoming embroiled in an online sex scandal. He publicly acknowledged that he had inadvertently Tweeted a photograph of his crotch and maintained six online relationships before and during his marriage.
A special election will be held later this year.
