Secret Service Enters The Twitterverse
The U.S. Secret Service agency is now on Twitter. The official launch of its account will take place on May 9th, but already the agency has nearly 700 followers (at the time this entry was published).
According to the Secret Service’s press affairs office, the purpose of the account will be to educate the public about its mission, and to provide historical facts as well as link to news releases.
Most importantly, the agency hopes to reach out via the web to potential recruits.
“The internet is a valuable resource for people all over the world,” said Secret Service Assistant Director Mickey Nelson. “By using social media sites, we hope to supplement our recruitment efforts, while providing an informative, helpful tool to businesses and individuals who are interested in information from our agency.”
