Senior Intelligence Official Confirms "Virtually 100 Percent DNA Match" For Bin Laden

A Senior Intelligence Official told reporters Monday that the DNA test conducted this morning confirms that the man shot  and killed during Sunday’s strike in Abbottabad, Pakistan was terrorist leader Osama bin Laden.

“This morning, CIA and other specialists in the intelligence community performed the initial DNA analysis matching a virtually 100-percent DNA match of the body against DNA of several bin Laden family members,” the official said.

The official added that prior to the DNA test, the U.S. was 95 percent certain, based off on on-the-scene visual identification, comparisons by CIA specialists against known bin Laden photographs and a confirmation provided by a woman in the compound believed to be the leader’s wife.
