DoD Report Clears McChrystal Of Wrongdoing In Rolling Stone Profile

Gen. Stanley McChrystal has been cleared of any wrongdoing in his participation in a Rolling Stone profile that led to his departure as the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan.

The inquiry concluded that the evidence against McChrystal was insufficient to justify any legal or ethical violations.

“In some instances, we found no witnesses who acknowledged making or hearing the comments as reported,” the Pentagon report said. “In other instances, we confirmed that the general substance of an incident at issue occurred, but not in the exact context described in the article.”
