Tunisian Prime Minister Resigns

Tunisian Prime Minister Mohammed Ghannouchi stepped down from his post after protests over his connection to ousted President Zine al Abidine Ben Ali erupted over the weekend. 

Ghannouchi’s departure leaves Mohamed Nouri Jouini, minister for international cooperation, as the only survivor in cabinet from the Ben Ali era. 

The minister’s resignation is said to add legitimacy to a presidential election that would have otherwise been compromised.
