DeLay Faces 3 Years In Prison

Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Texas) was sentenced by a federal judge Monday to three years in prison for his involvement in funneling corporate funds to Texas campaigns in 2002.

DeLay was convicted in November on charges of money laundering and conspiracy to commit money laundering. Senior Judge Pat Priest sentenced him to the three-year term on the conspiracy charge. He also sentenced him to five years in prison on the money laundering charge, but agreed to let DeLay serve 10 years of probation rather than extra prison time.
