27 Percent Of Tea Partiers Believe Global Warming Is A Problem
A survey compiled by the Civil Society Institute shows that only 27 percent of the Americans who identify as members of the tea party believe that global warming is a problem.
“Independents are more than twice as likely as Tea Party supporters (62 percent versus 27 percent) to see global warming as a problem in need of a solution, compared to 39 percent of Republicans and 82 percent of Democrats,” the survey states.
Graham Hueber, an Opinion Research Corporation Senior Researcher, told reporters during a conference call on the results Tuesday that candidates hoping to make climate change an issue need to be aware of the discrepancies between parties.
“These findings point to a greater diversity of views among Tea Party supporters and Independents than is widely assumed to be the case, and this has major implications for the 2010 elections and future elections,” Hueber said.
