Boren Won't Seek 2012 Re-Election, Leaves Potential Seat Open For GOP

Oklahoma Democrat Rep. Dan Boren will not run for re-election in 2012, leaving room for the Republican party to pick up yet another seat in the House. 

The 37-year-old Congressman is the lone Democrat of the state’s seven delegates and has served since 2005. 

According to reports, Brad Carson, Boren’s Democratic predecessor, plans to run for the seat in 2012 in a district characterized as Oklahoma’s Democratic safe haven.
