Boehner, 150 Economists Ask Obama To Cut Spending

In a letter signed by 150 economists, House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) asked President Obama Sunday to pursue deep spending cuts.

“The American people believe the spending binge in Washington is hurting our economy,” Boehner said. “Reducing government spending immediately is necessary to begin to create a more favorable environment for private-sector job creation.”

The economists’ joint-statement claims that the Recovery Act failed to spur private job growth and that the health care reform law and excessive regulations is burdening the businesses community.

The letter came on the eve of the release of the White House’s budget proposal for fiscal year 2012.

The full letter can be read here.
