Anuzis Announces Bid For RNC Chair
Saul Anuzis, a member of the Michigan Republican National Committee, announced Friday he intends to replace Michael Steele as RNC Chairman.
In a letter Anuzis posted on his website, the Michigan Republican said that although he is pursuing Steele’s seat as the committee’s chairman, he only intends on serving one term with one goal in mind - replace President Obama.
“Now we turn our attention to 2012. America must elect a new President,” Anuzis wrote. “It is that hope, that necessity, that challenge that draws me to announce my candidacy.”
Anuzis said his focus would be directed towards another successful GOP election cycle in 2012. But Anuzis made clear that his intentions in becoming chairman is not a strategic plan to propel him into a position to run for office, write a book or become a political celebrity.
“I will only run for one term, help elect our president and support his/her recommendation for our next Chairman,” he wrote. “It’s not my goal to be famous.”
