Officer: U.S. Troops In Afghanistan Unfazed By DADT Order

A recent order from a California Federal Judge instructing the military to discontinue Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell has had no perceivable affect on U.S. troops in Afghanistan, according to one commander in the field.

“I really don’t see an impact on the soldiers here today,” Major General John Campbell told reporters via satellite from Afghanistan Wednesday. “Our soldiers … probably have no clue on that statement out there.”

Campbell, who is the commanding general for Regional Command East, added that the soldiers under his command will respect any official changes to the 17 year policy prohibiting openly gay men and women from serving the military.

“Our soldiers abide by the law, and they follow that to a T,” Campbell explained.
