Talking Points from Senator Clinton press conference

Clinton began with a statement on the economy. Calling it a "global crisis," she named three things that should be done: the president should have already convened his working group on financial markets; the group must come up with something that can be passed quickly; and the package must deal with the mortgage crisis and people who don't pay income tax. She reiterated her call for freezes in foreclosures and mortgage rates.

In answers to questions about the role of Bill Clinton, she said former Presidents traditionally work with new Presidents, so Bill's campaigning for her wouldn't be a problem if someone else won the election. She said Obama came to the debate "looking for a fight." She claimed his bringing up Bill's campaigning shows that Obama is "frustrated." She also said that Obama had trouble responding to facts, such as his "Present" votes and speech agreeing with Bush's handling of the war, and that Obama came to the debate with lots of rehearsed talking points, revealed when he accused her of mentioning President Reagan when she hadn't.

As she was leaving the event, a reporter asked how she was feeling. Turning and smiling broadly, she responded, "I feel great! ... I love it [the campaigning]!"
