President Obama to Congress: “ You need to be here! ” 

During a White House press conference, President Obama says that Congress needs to do their job and make the tough choices. He also explained that if there isn’t any progress by the end of this week, they will have to start canceling things and stay in Washington in order to get it done. ( 1:25)

Pelosi: "There won’t be any more war supplementals"

At her weekly press conference today Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said: "There won’t be any more war supplementals. We have no expectation of that. My message to the members’ is the President has re-focused our efforts in Afghanistan, he has a path to ending the war in Iraq that will happen. So we have a plan for both places and this is the President’s request to fund that. I hope you can vote for it."

Child Questions Pelosi On Why She's A Democrat

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s weekly press conference took a different turn today as she fielded questions from children instead of reporters.
A young boy asked Pelosi: “Why did you join them and not us, and by them I mean the Democrats, and by us I mean the Republicans?” Pelosi responded in good humor. “I am delighted you associate yourself with a political party. I wish more people would and I hope the next generation will take back the Republican Party for the grand old party that it used to be,” she said.

Pelosi On Interrogation: "We were not told"

During her weekly press conference today, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was asked whether or not she raised objections during her time on the House Intelligence Committee during a briefing on interrogation methods including water-boarding. Pelosi said, “It’s not appropriate for me to talk about what happens at briefings, it’s very interesting that people are talking so freely, but I can say this...we were not and I repeat, we were not told that water-boarding or any of these other enhanced interrogation methods were used. What they did tell us was that they had some, the office of legislative council opinions that they could be used...further if and when they would be used they would brief Congress at that time.”

The Secretary of HUD Steps Down

Alphonso Jackson, Secretary of U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, held a press conference this morning announcing his withdrawal from the office. Due to “personal and family matters”, April 18 will be the Secretary’s last day in office. In his statement, Secretary Jackson mentioned his achievements during the seven years in office and expressed his gratuity to the President for giving him the chance to “make America a better place to live.” Directly after the Conference, the Secretary left the room without responding to any questions.
