Teenager Dies From Faulty Pacemaker, Family Denied Legal Recourse
Janice Baird, a woman from Oakdale, Minnesota, voiced her support Tuesday for the Medical Device Safety Act, a bill that would allow individuals to take legal action against medical device manufacturers. After Baird's son Robert died from a faulty pacemaker, she has become a proponent of the Act.
"This act has to go through. [Medical Device Manufacturers] have to be responsible and it will also, in my heart, give me some peace to know that Robert's death was not in vain," said Baird. (0:19)
