New Witness To Go Public Against Cain

A new witness could offer Sharon Bialek’s sexual harassment allegation against GOP presidential hopeful Herman Cain more credibility.

After failed attempts in organizing a joint conference with two of Cain’s accusers, a third-party witness is now expected to step forward and shed more light on the situation.

According to a a statement released by Bialek’s attorney Gloria Allred, “a previously unidentified witness” is expected to talk to the media Monday at 2:00p.m. EST in Shreveport, La.

The witness, who remains unnamed at this time, is a pediatrician and was Bialek’s former boyfriend at the time the alleged incident took place. Bialek’s ex-boyfriend is said to have more information regarding the allegations facing Cain.

This is a developing story…

Chelsea Clinton Joins NBC

NBC announced Monday morning that Chelsea Clinton will be joining their staff as a special news correspondent.

“Chelsea is a remarkable woman who will be a great addition to NBC News. Given her vast experiences, it’s as though Chelsea has been preparing for this opportunity her entire life,” Steve Capus, President of NBC News, said in a statement. “We are proud she will be bringing her considerable, unique talents and dedication to NBC News.”

Clinton will begin work on Monday morning on stories that are part of NBC’s “Making a Difference” franchise on NBC Nightly News.

According to the New York Times, Clinton plans to donate her NBC earnings to the Clinton Foundation and the George Washington University Hospital in honor of her grandmother who passed away this month.

“I hope telling stories through ‘Making a Difference’ — as in my academic work and nonprofit work — will help me to live my grandmother’s adage of ‘Life is not about what happens to you, but about what you do with what happens to you,’ ”Clinton said in a statement.

Clinton will be the second president’s daughter hired by NBC News and the third daughter of a recent presidential candidate. Jenna Bush Hager, daughter of President George W. Bush works as a correspondent for NBC’s “Today” show and John McCain’s daughter, Meghan McCain, is a contributor to MSNBC.

Boehner Disappointed By Keystone Postponement

House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) released the following statement in response to the Obama administration’s announcement that it would delay approving the Keystone XL oil pipeline until after the next election:

“More than 20,000 new American jobs have just been sacrificed in the name of political expediency. By punting on this project, the President has made clear that campaign politics are driving U.S. policy decisions – at the expense of American jobs. The current project has already been deemed environmentally sound, and calling for a new route is nothing but a thinly-veiled attempt to avoid upsetting the President’s political base before the election. It’s a failure of leadership.”

“The production of American-made energy has a direct link to American job creation. That’s why House Republicans will soon introduce and pass jobs legislation that ties the permanent expansion of American energy production to an increase in new infrastructure projects. Today is another reminder that the President’s energy policy is destroying American jobs while Republicans are focused on using American resources to put people back to work.”

White House: Politics A Non-Factor In Keystone Delay

The State Department’s decision to put off approving the Keystone XL pipeline was not influenced by politics, said President Obama’s top spokesman today.

Reuters reported yesterday that officials have decided to reassess the proposed Canada-to-Texas oil pipeline over concerns from environmentalists. The official who spoke said a final decision could take up to 18 months, well after the 2012 presidential election.

During a briefing with reporters, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said that “none of those criteria” being used by the State Department to make a determination “are political.”

“The president has great confidence in the secretary of state, and he has confidence in a process that will take into account the criteria that he publicly said were very important,” Carney added.

The White House has signaled that although the State Department is in charge of reviewing the pipeline, Obama will have a key say regarding what ultimately happens. In a statement, the president defended the decision to reexamine the matter.

“Because this permit decision could affect the health and safety of the American people as well as the environment, and because a number of concerns have been raised through a public process, we should take the time to ensure that all questions are properly addressed and all the potential impacts are properly understood.”
