Poll: Majority Of Americans Blame Bush For Economy
A majority of Americans believe that the economy has worsened throughout the summer, but President Obama’s re-election chances have not dwindled, according to a new poll.
An Associated Press-GfK poll revealed that 86 percent of adults see the economy as “poor,” an uptick of three percentage points since June.
Though the public outlook on the economy continues to dip, a majority of Americans do not blame Obama for the current economic situation, but rather his predecessor. While 31 percent of Americans blame Obama, 51 percent point to former President George W. Bush.
The trend trickles down to Congress with 44 percent of likely voters putting “a lot” or “most” of the blame on House Republicans, while only 36 percent point to Democrats.
Additionally, more than 6 in 10 disapprove of the President’s handling of the economy.
