Lawmaker Wants U.S. Government To Purchase 100 Percent American-Made Flags

Just in time for Flag Day, legislation will soon be introduced that would require American flags purchased by the federal government to be made from 100 percent American made materials, instead of the current 50 percent required.

The All-American Flag Act was introduced by Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio).

“American flags should be American-made,” Brown said in a press release. “With Ohio companies proudly producing the American flag, taxpayer funds should not be used to purchase foreign-made flags. Our nation’s economic strength is tied to a strong manufacturing sector – and we should be doing everything we can to support American manufacturing.”

The All-American Flag Act is one among several pieces of legislation introduced by Senator Brown with the intent to boost domestic manufacturing.
