GOP Candidate Fires Back At Rove

2012 GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain responded over the weekend to Karl Rove’s claim that his rise in the polls may be be short-lived.

Rove, the architect of George W Bush’s successful presidential campaigns in 2000 and 2004, said on Fox News last Monday that Cain talks a good game, but lacks the substance needed to back it up.

“Herman Cain – talk radio guy in Atlanta, former head of a national pizza chain, has a lot of excitement. But look, it’s not just your narrative on Obama. It’s not just your own personal narrative. It is what have you done in your life that gives us confidence that the vision you’re laying out is something that you can actually do?”

Cain, the former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza, responded this weekend in an op-ed for The Daily Caller entitled, “Dear Skeptics.”

“The establishment skeptics are still stuck in the traditional campaign paradigm of immediate name ID, lots of money, and having held a worthy elective office before,” he wrote. “No one is more emblematic of the Republican establishment than Karl Rove. He has an unmatched political record from his tenure with former president George W. Bush. I greatly respect and admire what he has accomplished in his career. But I would suggest that he take a few minutes to review my record as a leader in business and as a problem-solver before he dismisses me as the radio talk show guy from Atlanta with not much to offer as a presidential candidate.”
