Report: Bin Laden Wanted To Recruit American Minorities

Osama bin Laden instructed his followers to recruit those “oppressed in the United States” including African Americans and Latinos, according to a report Thursday in the Washington Post.

The information was reportedly pulled from electronic devices taken from the terrorist leaders compound after a strike from U.S. forces. It is also said to reveal that bin Laden had an overall obsession with duplicating the 9/11 terror attacks on American soil, a preoccupation that allegedly irked some of his followers.

On Saturday, U.S. intelligence officials released videos seized from the scene as well, which depicts bin Laden taping various messages and watching news footage of himself on a small television in what appears to be his Pakistani based compound.

Officials have cast the confiscated material as a “treasure trove” of intelligence and a major boon for U.S. counterterrorism efforts.
