Radioactive Water Leaking From Number Two Reactor Stopped
The Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) announced Wednesday that efforts to stop radioactive water leaking from the Number 2 reactor at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant have been successful.
According to TEPCO, confirmation that the flow of radioactive water had been stopped came Wednesday after the plant operator filled the cracks with liquid glass, otherwise known as sodium silicate.
Meanwhile, the electric company continues to release tons of wastewater contaminated with low-level radiation into the sea, making room in storage tanks for highly contaminated water. TEPCO said its released about 6,000 tons of water thus far.
