Sebelius Continues Health Care Defense
Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius defended the Affordable Care Act before the Senate Finances Committee Wednesday saying millions of Americans across the country are already benefiting from its provisions, most notably are the benefits to Medicare enrollees.
“I am proud to say that we have met deadlines, established strong working partnerships and begun laying the groundwork for reforms that will take effect in the years to come,” Sebelius said. “This law means real improvements…now and in the future.”
Sebelius represented the White House well and touted a new Patient’s Bill of Rights for giving families more control of their healthcare coverage. She also said that the millions of Americans enrolled in Medicare have been seeing major differences in the benefits they receive, including greater access to affordable medications
As of late, Sebelius has voiced her opposition to Republican attempts at defunding the healthcare reform bill saying it would risk “significant disruptions in service” to nearly 13 million people.
