GOP'ers Pledge To Block CR Extension

Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) has pledged to vote against any extension to the continuing resolution that excludes language shutting off $105.5 billion in funding for the Affordable Care Act, an automatic appropriations measure to implement the bill.

In a Politico Op-Ed, King said that House leaders refused to include language cutting the bill’s automatic funding in its original bill, H.R. 1, nor was it approved to be tacked on as an amendment.

“If we do not slash the Obamacare Gordion knot by killing the automatic funding, it will soon be a part of all our lives,” King wrote.

King, along with Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.), have begun circulating a letter throughout the House for the inclusion of this language in the next CR extension. Additionally, those who sign the pledge are also vowing to vote against any CR that does not include the $105.5 billion cut.

“The language we want added to the CR is the best solution to ensure that no additional money, regardless of its source, is expended on the discredited health-care law,” he wrote. “The solution is in front of us… we must be willing to fight.”
