Wisconsin’s State Assembly To Take On Union Bill

The Wisconsin State Assembly agreed Thursday evening to move forward with legislation that has fueled unrest in the state’s capital, according to the Associated Press.

The legislation, which will constrict federal workers’ ability to collectively bargain over their wages, may reach a vote by Thursday afternoon.

However, it’s still uncertain what will happen in the state legislature’s upper chamber. 14 Democratic Senators fled the state in order to stall the vote by eliminating the body’s quorum. Neither Wisconsin’s Governor nor the protesters appear willing to compromise on key points of the bill.

A labor bill that elicited similar unrest was tabled in Indiana’s state legislature Wednesday.
