Indiana Dems Leave State
Mirroring actions from Wisconsin’s state senators, 37 Democrats in Indiana’s House left the state Tuesday to stall a vote on a controversial union bill, the Indianapolis Star is reporting.
The move leaves the state’s House 9 votes short of a quorum. Last week, Democrats in Wisconsin’s State senate traveled to Illinois in order to avoid a vote on legislation that would restrict the collective bargaining rights of federal workers.
Indiana’s legislation would prohibit “unions and companies from negotiating a contract that requires non-union members to kick-in fees for representation,” according to the Star.
