Poll: Obama Ties Generic Republican In 2012 Matchup

President Barack Obama may have quite a bit of competition from any candidate the Republican Party chooses as its representative in the 2012 presidential elections, this according to a recent Gallup poll

The poll, which prompted Americans to choose between re-electing Obama or going with a generic GOP’er, revealed that Americans are stuck, with 45 percent voting to re-elect Obama and 45 percent saying they would elect a generic Republican.

Seemingly good news for the full plate of potential Republican candidates who are vying for the opportunity to face Obama in 2012.

Figures show that Obama would still carry the minority and women’s vote while his clout in today’s younger generation of voters seemed to slip from 63 percent in 2008 to 51 percent.
