AZ Sheriff May Run To Fill Departing Kyl's Seat

Maricopa Sherriff Joe Arpaio said that he is thinking of running to fill departing Sen. Jon Kyl’s (R-Ariz.) seat in 2012.

Arpaio, well known for his stiff anti-immigration beliefs, said the only thing holding him back is the decision to leave his post as sheriff.

The sheriff’s comments come after a new poll was released by Summit Consulting Group, Inc. showing that Arpaio led possible Republican challengers, including J.D. Hayworth who challenged incumbent Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) in 2010.
