Today's Business Roundup

US Stocks

Despite a meeting between EU finance ministers and retailers raking in cash from Cyber Monday, US stocks closed mixed. The Dow gained 32.62 points to close at 11555.63 points. The S&P eeked out a gain of 2.65 points to finish at 1,195.20 — below the key technical level of 1,200. The Nasdaq ended the red at 11.83 points.

American Airlines

American Airlines parent company AMR Corp. filed for a Chapter 11 protection. The company has lost more than $10 billion since 2001. Former chief executive Robert Crandall said that this is a clear sign deregulation did not work in the 1970’s.
