Bipartisan Group Pushes Back On New Ethanol Ruling
A group of Democratic and Republican Senators wrote to EPA Chief Lisa Jackson on Thursday urging her to reconsider the agency’s decision to approve use of a higher blend of ethanol in fuel for vehicles manufactured after 2007.
“I am deeply concerned about the cost and potential safety risks associated with rushing fuels to market that are not approved for use in the majority of vehicles and equipment in use throughout the country today,” said Sen. Ben Cardin (D-Md.).
Cardin’s letter was co-signed by Sens. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), Susan Collins (R-Maine), Richard Burr (R-N.C.), Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.), Kay Bailey Hutchinson (R-Texas), Olympia Snowe (R-Maine), Jack Reed (D-R.I.) and Jim Webb (D-Va.).
