Steele Says He "Revived" Republican National Committee

Contrary to what his critics have been saying, RNC Chairman Michael Steele told Republicans on Monday that he deserves credit for jumpstarting the fundraising unit he has led for the past two years.

In an op-ed for the Daily Caller entitled, “I Revived the RNC,” Steele wrote that he is partly responsible for the big gains Republicans made during the November midterm elections.

“By every key measure—fundraising, turnout, and election results—our party was hugely successful.”

But despite that, Steele is not considered a lock to win reelection in two weeks. Though he still experiences support from within the RNC, Republican insiders feel as though the organization has suffered from an image crisis under Steele’s leadership.
