FCC Approves Net Neutrality Guideline

The FCC voted Tuesday to approve inter-agency guidelines that would support net neutrality.

The vote, 3-2, was made between the FCC’s commissioners. The results followed party lines, with the comission’s Democrats supporting it and Republicans opposing it.

President Barack Obama heralded the decision.

“Today’s decision will help preserve the free and open nature of the Internet while encouraging innovation, protecting consumer choice, and defending free speech,” Obama said in a statement.
