Rangel Pleads With Pelosi, House Dems For Delayed Censure Vote

Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-N.Y.) requested from a number of Democratic leaders in the House, including Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), to postpone the final vote for censure until Thursday.

The embattled Harlem Democrat hope his request will provide him with enough time to persuade a number of his colleagues to vote against a censure and recommend a less harsh reprimand. Both forms of punishment are aimed at scolding Rangel for misconduct, however, a reprimand is a written, more private punishment whereas the censure is heard a loud in front the entire House. 

Rangel was found guilty of 11 ethics violations, including improperly soliciting donations for an educational center using congressional letterhead.
