Van Hollen Will Be Dem Point Man On Tax Cut Negotiations

Following a bipartisan meeting with President Barack Obama and members of his cabinet today, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced that Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) will lead Democrats’ negotiations with the GOP as the two parties seek a compromise on extending the expiring Bush-era tax cuts.

“As the incoming Ranking Member of the Budget Committee, and a member of the Ways and Means Committee and Democratic leadership, Congressman Van Hollen brings expertise on how best to provide a tax cut for the middle class as well as a commitment to reduce the deficit,” Pelosi said.
