Obama To Give Major Speech On The Economy, Jobs

President Barack Obama has some new ideas on how to speed up economic recovery and job creation that he plans to roll out in a major speech early September, a senior administration official told the Associated Press.

The White House official said Obama’s new proposals are all “fresh ones” and that it would feature a “specific plan” that would cut the nation’s debt beyond the $1.5 trillion the newly appointed super committee must cut by the end of November.

With the his approval rating at its lowest point since he took office, Obama will likely spend the coming months pressuring a Congress that he’s tagged as “dysfunctional” to move forward with the ideas he will present.

Speaking on terms of anonymity, the senior administration official told AP the Obama will make his speech in September shortly following the Labor Day holiday.

The President wraps up a bus tour across the Midwest Wednesday in Atkinson and Alpha, two towns in Illinois that have about 1,500 residents combined. Following his road trip, Obama and the First Family will head to Martha’s Vineyard for a 10-day vacation before returning to the capital to present his new ideas to the nation.
