On Day Two Of Midwest Bus Tour, Obama Blasts "Bickering" Congress

On day two of his Midwest bus tour, President Barack Obama blasted Congress for exhibiting partisan politics that, he says, has stalled progress in Washington.

Obama used the Rural Economic Forum in Peosta, Iowa to outline the future of job creation in a country desperate for growth. In his prepared remarks, the president acknowledged that “the only thing holding us back is our politics” and that the key to solving the problem was to get “our politics to match up with the decency of our people.”

“The only thing that’s preventing us from passing the bills I just mentioned is the refusal of a faction of Congress to put country ahead of party,” Obama said. “That has to stop, our country cannot afford it.”

Obama called on Americans, yet again, to express to their discontent over the political environment that has engulfed Capitol Hill.

“I want to enlist your help sending a message to Congress,” Obama told the crowd.

“We’ve got a lot of work to do and the only way it’ll get done is if Democrats and Republicans put country ahead of party and put the next generation ahead of the next election,” he said.
