Explosion Hits Oslo
A large explosion hit Norwegian government buildings in Oslo Friday in an apparent bombing.
The blast killed at least seven and wounded approximately a dozen more, according to the country’s broadcasting corporation.
In a statement, Norway’s Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg described the explosion as “a very serious situation” and advised the city’s residents to stay at home and refrain from using mobile devices as rescue personnel combs through the affected area.
“All available emergency personnel are at the scene,” the statement reads. “All expertise and resources have been brought in to gain control of the situation.”
The explosion came just hours before a shooting at a nearby summer camp sponsored by the Norwegian labor party. According to a variety of media reports, a gunman dressed in a police uniform killed five. He has subsequently been arrested.
The Norweigian embassy in the U.S. advises concerned families to call the police hotline at +47 815 02 800.
